This is not your typical safari.The pitter-patter of bare feet slapped against the paved two lane highway. The cool blanket of fog hung low in the sky. To their left were the fiercely cold waters of the south Atlantic. To their right, mountains of sand, drifting and scurrying across the highway; it was the Namib Desert.The number "041" was printed beneath the Lucky Star logo. The boy ran next to a taller girl whose stride was longer than his. Another man drifted off the two bare footed runners; he wore cross-training shoes, a hat with a small brim, sunglasses, and his nose was covered in pasty-white sunscreen.Together, the three strangers pushed and pulled each other closer to the finish line.Once I had volunteered at a track meet in the town of Tsumeb, Namibia. African's competed against the whites. The whites had shoes and starting blocks. Only some of the African's wore shoes. The advantages of one group were the disadvantage of the other, yet the races were close.A student of mine in the village had talent. The first race I saw Maria run, was on a make-shift track, around a few trees, a pile of stones, and finishing past a line drawn in the dirt. She dodged herds of goat and went around the stray cow; all without shoes.Her talents got her on the Namibian national team. She joined the Namibian team in Botswana to compete. She came home with a Bronze. She was disappointed by her performance, she knew her speed was quicker, however they made her wear shoes that slowed her down. She was much faster without shoes, sprinting across the ground in bare feet, her everyday "shoe."Today, these kids came from the far corners of their country, from the deepest of villages, to the town of Swakopmund to run a marathon. Some were lucky to have shoes, some fit, others were a size too large or too small, yet they were still worn.Annually, Etosha Fish hosts the Lucky Star Marathon between Namibia's coastal towns of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund. Open to the public, hundreds of Namibian students flock to the event and compete against other Namibians and foreign nationals from across southern Africa, Europe, and America.It is an incredible opportunity to experience, whether you're running or casually relaxing and cheering on the athletes.I had recently read a quote simply saying "life is a marathon, not a sprint."Namibia, Africa is a place that follows this motto better than anywhere else on earth. The athletes run with passion and celebrate with ease. No hurries, no worries. Namibian students study hard in hopes of a better future, a future where one day they may be able to buy their own shoes. Winning is recognized, yet it's the travels and new journey's these young Namibians experienced that sprouted the most smiles.For many of these athletes, this was their first time visiting Swakopmund and the ocean! Their collective spirit was contagious. Our bus ride home, back to the village, was filled with joyous stories, stories that continue to be relived each and everyday.

One of the most frightening experiences you can ever imagine is waking up to the sound of elephant footsteps right outside your tent. This was my wake up call on my first Botswana safari expedition.During the autumn month of April, me and my close friend Michelle went on our usual yearly escapade. We were like two girls seeking a little adventure, camping in the heart of the Botswana wilderness. We were staying in bush camps in the Moremi Wildlife Reserve in the Okavango Delta. A place filled with promise of adventure, but I don't think elephants creating havoc in our campsite was something either of us expected. Big bulliesIt was a breezy cool early morning. The signs that winter were approaching was becoming clear. Michelle woke me up. Alarmed we sat in our safari tent listening to the sound of something approaching. It didn't take long before we realized that it was a small group of elephants moving in on our campsite. The small group turned out to be two young bulls travelling together, looking for an easy meal. We unzipped our window as softly and as wide open as we dared, for it is a common fact that young bulls, like these two, can show quite aggressive behaviour. We sat there for what felt like an eternity watching them sniffing around, pushing over and shoving around the camp. I can tell you that luck was on our side that morning, because they never showed any real interest in our tents. A good thing that our safari tents are also situated on raised teak platforms, which also provided some kind of sense of security. I breathed a sigh of relief when the two continued on their merry way.The Moremi Wildlife ReserveAs soon as our two uninvited guests were gone, everybody came out of their tents, adrenalin pumping; the atmosphere was filled with excitement. During our hearty breakfast our guides informed us that the occurrence was not unusual. We were after all in their territory now. This was just the beginning of five days filled with Africa's wildlife set in what is most certainly nature at its most beautiful. The reserve is set in the north-eastern corner of the Okavango Delta and has stunning varied scenery. I can't remember in any of my previous safaris ever seeing this amount of wildlife in such a short amount of time. As usual there was the big five: elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard and hippos. But we also had the privilege of seeing the unique sitatunga antelope. Game for a little driveWe had a game drive every morning and evening on the back of an open 4x4 Land Rover. On one of our night drives we struck gold! A pride of lions were hunting and their victim was a feisty zebra. Although most people see this as horrible and cruel, the fact remains that it is still amazing to see nature in action. It took two lionesses to pin the zebra to the ground for what seemed like seconds to happen. The power lions possess is exhilarating. With panache they won a most difficult battle. I did feel sadness for the zebra, but this is the circle of life, even though it's so cruel. I don't think I'll ever grow tired of being so up-close and personal with Africa's wildlife. I've been privileged enough to have gone on a couple of safaris, but this being my first safari in Botswana I couldn't really understand why I hadn't travelled there previously.Heading back to campAfter our game drive we headed back to camp. The guides set up a campfire and Michelle and I soon joined the rest of tourists to around the fire. Discussions involved the day's sight-seeing and mainly about the lions hunting tactics. I think some of the tourists would take a long time to get over the initial shock of seeing something like that, for most of them found the experience simply horrible. The only thing everybody could agree on was how beautiful Botswana and specifically the Moremi Wildlife Reserve were. After dinner and a relaxing nightcap, everybody set off to their tents with our armed guards, to what would be our last night of our safari. I think this trip was more than what Michelle and I could have hoped for and definitely set our expectations higher for our next wildlife adventure.

Dress up girls are one of the most enjoyable things I've done online in recent memory. The games are straightforward and easy to play, but they are also a nice opportunity to put your creative juices to work. In fact, I learned quite a bit about myself while playing. While these lessons aren't considered ground shaking by any means, they are meaningful to me. It seems like too often even the simplest things about ourselves can be lost in the shuffle. It's wonderful that we can rediscover the basics using something like dress up girls. Dress Up Girls Let Me Be CreativeI love any activity that lets me break out of my traditional work detail and express myself creatively. Playing dress up games lets me take a break from work and then play with design. I like to find new games to try every time I play. Fortunately there are hundreds if not thousands of opportunities to play new games. For example, I might try playing a game with goth and emo dress up games on the first day and then try something more like fairies and pixies on the next. The fun of it is that I'm able to create a new doll with each of my passing fancies until I have quite a collection of dolls to enjoy.Dress Up Girls Let Me Try New ThingsThere are always new games to try and new things to do with the dress up girls. New games show up almost daily as new games come out and try new things. First you need to draw the head of the cartoon girl by drawing an oval shaped circle within a one inch square.
Drawing a cross in the circle will guide you to place nose, eyes and mouth on it. Now you must draw the eyes of cartoon girl near the ending f horizontal lines. You can draw small or big eyes depending on your taste and style of drawing.
Draw the nose near the middle of the circle by making a vertical line or a tiny circle or even a small w with rounded off ends. You should draw a small line or two lines positioned above the chin making mouth of the cartoon girl.
Of course you will have to draw eyebrows above the eyes. To draw eyebrows draw rounded lines above eyes to overstate the plumpness of the eyes. Now go for the ears of cartoon girl. Draw a half circle attached with the each side of the face.
After done with the face now you should work on the hair of cartoon girl. Draw some wavy lines on top of the head going on right and the left side of the head. Also draw a small circle on the head and make those wavy lines come through that circle. This way you will make a pony tail of the cartoon girl.
After completing the face, come to the drawing of its neck. Draw two small parallel lines measuring a half an inch attached to each corner of the right and the left chin respectively. Then draw a line from corner to corner measuring about one inch in length.
Now come to the final step of your drawing. You will have to color your cartoon girl with color pencils. Choose nice color and fill in the sketch. Show your work to your parents and enjoy with your friends as well.
