PLEASANTLY PLUMP in OLD JAPAN

I had a blond-haired, blue-eyed friend who had come to Okinawa to study Karate --- Okinawa being the true Mecca for all of the Karate nuts in the world. Athletic and handsome, he could have any woman he wanted...almost.

The thin, skinny, "sexy", fashionable girls of the neighborhood (and beyond) were lined up to get a date with him, and even the tall, slim, model types from the mainland who had come to Okinawa as tourists would sometimes come up to him, and stick their cell phone numbers (and hotel name and room numbers) into his hand. I witnessed it once, and he said 'it happens all the time".

A lot of guys say, "Japanese girls are 'easy' ". And for him, they definitely were.

There was only one trouble. He hated the tall, skinny, model types that were always chasing him down. What really turned him on was the "pleasantly plump" shorter girls with round faces and cherub cheeks --- and oriental almond eyes that almost disappeared into a fine line when they smiled a happy smile.

Yup. He liked a little meat on their bones (so to speak), and thought that being shaped more like a "huggable pillow" was the peak of feminine perfection.

And every time he came across one shaped like that, his heart would race, and he could barley move or talk. In a "panic of love", he would lose his grip and fail to "make his move". He asked me to be a go-between for him on a couple of occasions, but I refused. I told him to go chase his own women. "Be natural and nice", I told him. (Just like he was to all the skinny girls he had no interest in)

But to no avail. He was great at being chased, but a terrible chaser. He panicked in love-struck fear every time, and ended up running the other way to "avoid rejection".

Long story short. Since he was scared to go after what he wanted, he wound up taking those who wanted him. (That's always a plan).

He got an under-age, skinny-as-a-bean-pole Japanese High School girl pregnant, and ended up marring her when she turned 18....before fleeing the country.

He was in his 40s at the time.
